Gossip Girl
Hello, readers!
Welcome back to my blog!
I’ll be going on and on about Gossip Girl today as I just finished watching all 6 seasons. So suck it up ; )
There might be some spoilers from now on, so read only if you're okay with it.
Let’s start off with analyses of characters who mattered to me, beginning with Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf, shall we?
I feel like Serena was at her best only in the first two seasons and then went downhill from there. If you observe keenly, you’d know that she never really grew up or matured. Maybe it’s because she broke up with Dan who was basically her anchor or because of her daddy issues but I’m not sure if I really believe that. Maybe it was just Serena being Serena.
Coming to Blair, I believe that she never really had much “growing up” to do to begin with. She just seemed so normal to me. Almost everything she did, most of us wanted to do, too, at some point. She just had the means to do it. Throughout the series, she kept on having epiphanies and grew up consistently. I do admit that she had some flaws but don’t we all?
Nate Archibald was good as a person. As a boyfriend? Not so much. I felt like he judged his partners too quickly. I do understand the importance of red flags but if I acted out due to some insecurity in a relationship, I’d expect my boyfriend to stand by me and help overcome the issue together as a couple instead of ditching me and moving on to the next available girl. After all, a relationship isn’t just hearts and flowers all the time.
As for Chuck Bass, I believe that he his transformation after falling in love with Blair was striking. I like how he turned out, especially his “yes” phase. It didn’t make sense from one point of view but made so much sense from another. I’m probably not making much sense right now.
Moving on to Dan, he was so nice in the beginning! As the series progressed, he became sort of intense and shallow at the same time? I guess? I'm not entirely sure. But I really liked him at some points and hated him at some. There was no inbetween. I stand with him on the Serena chapter, though. It was pretty much the truth.
Jenny Humphrey was….how do I put it gently? She was pretty much undecided in everything. She was strong but didn’t use it for her betterment, at least not until she was banished from Manhattan. I feel like her personality was too vulnerable to circumstances. I totally hated her nickname “Little J.”, by the way. No one deserves to be humiliated that way.
Georgina Sparks was a combination of brilliant and creepy. I'm not a fan of the way she treated Serena in the beginning, though. But I'd still like to know what she did with Poppy Lifton.
Oh, my God, I loved Eric as if he was my own brother! He was so cute and so smart! I don't even know where he got the "good" genes from. He was so good and awesome. I hate that he moved out so soon. I honestly believe that the van der Woodsens wouldn't have made half the mistakes they made if Eric had been around.
Costumes and styles :
As we’re all well aware, the costumes and styling were top notch.
The gold fabric in Serena’s wedding dress was pretty much predictable. Blair’s dress totally surprised me, though. Considering that the whole thing was rushed, her dress couldn’t have been better.
Yeah, yeah, sure, I’ll wrap this up for now. Wait up for the next part, though ; )
If you want my thoughts on anything/anyone else, comment and let me know.
Have a great day/night!
